Three Selkies
Logo & Packaging
Three Selkies is a local honey business based in Marblehead, MA, founded by Amy Cutler. The brand name “Three Selkies” draws inspiration from selkies, mythical creatures from Celtic folklore known for their transformation between seals and humans. For the packaging design, I created a logo that embodies this rich mythology and the artisanal nature of the product.
The logo consists of three key elements:
The Triskele: This ancient Celtic symbol, featuring interconnected spirals, represents the natural cycle and the harmony of life. It’s used in the design to evoke a sense of tradition and continuity.
The Selkies: A stylized depiction of the mythical selkie, whose flowing hair forms the triskele, links the design to the brand’s name and its Celtic roots. The selkie’s graceful form captures the essence of both the mythical and the natural world.
The Bee: Central to the brand’s identity, the bee symbolizes the honey itself. It’s integrated into the design to highlight the artisanal aspect of the business and its connection to nature.
